The Lake District is my favourite national park in the UK, and one of the gems of the north of England. If you’re interested in hiking, photography, outdoor adventures, cosy pubs with home-cooked food or visiting the homes of famous poets, then the Lake District is for you. Getting there couldn’t be easier, with Ambleside and Windermere in the South Lakes a mere 30 min drive from the M6 motorway. Reaching the Lake District by train is easy too, with frequent departures from London taking a little over 2.5 hours, and prices from £22.
